So, as I’ve discussed previously, I’m a pretty big fan of the CRKT CEO knife by Richard Rogers. It’s a great solution for what I’d call “soft NPE” (non permissive environment) carry – places like work when you don’t necessarily want to advertise you have a knife, but still want quick access to one.

The CRKT CEO would also be a great knife choice for a suit pocket or (maybe) even dress pants pockets, depending on your specific use case. Its small profile and light weight prevents pulling and awkward bulging, but its overall length and general usability really shines, even with its relatively small profile as compared to some of the other knives offered by CRKT (like the M16 series, for example). Yes, it lacks a glass breaker and a seatbelt cutter, but if you need those while wearing a suit, I have questions for you…

Back to the knife – there are “standard” and “flipper” versions of the CEO pocket knife – once you know how to use the “standard” they’re quite comparable, but if you’re comfortable with flippers on your other knives, you may want to go for the “flipper” version. Here’s a video I did on both version of the CRKT CEO pocket knife, with a bonus item you may also want to consider as well.

If you need a suit to go with your new CEO pocket knife, check out this post on choosing suit colors! Otherwise, if you want more suggestions for tools and equipment, check out ktstrategic.com, where you’ll find detailed recommendations and reviews from a firefighter/tactical paramedic for all kinds of gear and equipment, for everything from every day carry (EDC) to professional applications.

Keep checking back in this space for more updates as time goes on, we’re just getting started with the blog here at Section 6 Menswear – there will be much more to come soon!

Stay safe out there.

What Kind of Suit Do I Need? http://section6menswear.com/2022/08/26/solutions-for-your-own-business/ http://section6menswear.com/2022/08/26/solutions-for-your-own-business/#comments Fri, 26 Aug 2022 00:35:22 +0000 http://section6menswear.com/2022/08/26/solutions-for-your-own-business/ Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature.

This is one of the most common questions we get here at Section 6 Menswear, and while the easiest way is of course to have you come in and visit with us to get a personalized consultation, the popular blog The Art of Manliness has an excellent article on what they call “The Suit Ladder“.

Spoilers, but they recommend the following arrangement/order:

  1. Charcoal Grey
  2. Navy Blue
  3. Pinstripe or Plaid
  4. Black
  5. Everything Else

Now, we here at Section 6 would encourage you to come talk to us to get a more nuanced set of options provided to you depending on your specific needs and circumstances, but the Suit Ladder isn’t a bad place to start by any means.

Planning for your Event http://section6menswear.com/2022/08/26/planning-for-your-business/ Fri, 26 Aug 2022 00:35:22 +0000 http://section6menswear.com/2022/08/26/planning-for-your-business/ It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.

Whether you’re hosting or attending an event, it’s always important to be prepared – yes, that age-old Boy Scout motto.

The first thing you should do is consider the location and weather – if you don’t do this, you’re liable to come dressed “correctly” for the occasion, but be uncomfortable the whole time. Not as extreme as wearing a parka in Arizona, but you get the idea.

Then, you’ll want to consider what is most appropriate for this type of event. Remember, the invitation is likely to contain some recommendations, but if it doesn’t, you’ll want to consider who is hosting and what type of event it is – those should provide you enough clues to get a general idea of what’s going to be appropriate, because remember, even a wedding might end up being far less formal than you’d expect, depending on who is hosting it.

Finally, consider style – what fits your personal style and meshes well with the event? For example, think about what color the wedding party will be in, or what accent colors are seasonable (bright or pastels for spring and summer, warm for fall, cool for winter… or turn that all on its head if you know what you’re doing).

Oh and also, don’t forget to have fun!
